Last night, I had a dream where I was walking the aisles of my supermarket-the baking aisles, more specifically and I was picking out the most decadent cake ingredients: cherries, dried berries, caramel frosting, white chocolate flakes and everything in between. That's what happens when you fall asleep watching cake baking shows, I suppose. In any case, I woke up and it was my day off so I decided, "Why not make this dream come true?" Well, the first qoute is that I'm a man who doesn't know his way colse to the kitchen at all when it comes to baking; but rather than leave my crushed dreams laying there on the floor, I decided to meet them halfway and see if I could find a plain chocolate cake recipe. That sounds easy enough, doesn't it?
A friend of mine recommended I try out the chocolate cake recipe that I'm about to share with you. She said it's so easy that even I could pull it off-thanks, very encouraging. In any case, I already had all of the ingredients for this plain chocolate cake recipe. If a bachelor has this stuff, chances are you do too.
Banana Cake
Ingredients for this chocolate cake recipe:
2 cups of granulated sugar
3 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tsp of salt
1/3 cup of cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp liquid vanilla
2 tbsp of vinegar
3/4 cup of vegetable oil
2 cups of cold water
Preparation instructions:
1. First, preheat your oven to 350°F. 2. Mix all of the dry ingredients together (sugar, flour, salt, cocoa powder and baking powder). 3. Mix the wet ingredients together in a detach bowl. 4. Combine the contents of each bowl. 5. Pour this aggregate into a baking pan. 6. Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven.
The best part of this method how quick and easy the establishment was. I had envisaged more of a kitchen disaster by the end...Apocalypse Kitchen Now!
Fortunately the kitchen is spotless and the cake is positively delicious. Plus, I have plenty leftover for when guests pop in.
Another trick I've learnt is that the cake can be re-heated in the microwave for 20-30 seconds depending on the rating of your microwave oven. Once reheated, drop a dollop of either cream or ice cream and enjoy.
There you have it! A delicious, old-fashioned method that's a 'piece of cake' to prepare!
